Am I a Geek For Noticing This?

The other day, I noticed some light on a table in an otherwise dark room. It was obviously being reflected from somewhere else (or is that refracted?) ;) so I began to try to determine from where it was coming. I discovered it was coming from Gil's bowl.

As I was running my hand through the light that was shining into the bowl and then out across my room, I noticed something. There was a pattern on my hand; it wasn't just "light." I tried to identify it on my hand, but was unsuccessful. I found something that was fairly plain and white and tried that. This is what I saw.

Please excuse the mess** that is my backyard right now, but this is what I saw when I looked out the window clear across the room.

Pretty cool, huh?

AND, I have to admit I got a little geeked up when I was "focusing" the inverted image on the postcard by moving it closer and farther from the fish bowl.

Besides just being himself, that little Betta fish is inadvertently providing this household with so much entertainment!!!!

**In my defense, my yard is usually very pretty, but recently we got a frost warning and I had next to no time to defend my plants. I grabbed some old linens and tossed over some plants, and with as much time as I did have before it got dark, I kind of threw some Christmas lights up in the trees for added warmth. (It works every time!) With Abby's toys strewn about, the folded up ghetto pool that somehow migrated to the patio table, and the wheelbarrow/ladder combo it looks atrocious! But, that's how it looks for now until warm weather and my having some extra time coincide -- or until we move, whichever comes first!

Fuckin' Dogs!

I love them, but just when you start to trust that they are done destroying things, they pull something like this!

This next picture from last Easter will give you a better idea of what I'm all mad about if the strewn potting soil and lack of plants doesn't spell it out for you.

If There Was Any Doubt...

Up until now I kind of thought I was losing it. Little things, here and there, made me question my mental acuity.

Today was a doozie!

I heard it was the 9th today and stopped to recall that my ex's birthday is on the 9th. It's been a while, so I mentally did the, "Yup, he's on the 9th, and Mom is on the 11th, and Dad is on the 13th of February..." countdown. The three of them all had their birthdays sort of in a row like that.

In F.E.B.R.U.A.R.Y!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, no. It didn't stop there. I ACTUALLY sent him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY text message!!!!!

nice.

At least I realized it before he called me on it. I managed to send of another message that said something like, "A whole month early - go figure! I'm never early!"

So, yes, I don't even know what month it is, and we're mere DAYS away from New Year's!!!!! Ya think I'd know it's January, right????

Oh, what will become of me when I really get old and crazy? Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

At least it took me until just now to remember that he and another friend of mine SHARE that birthday! I could very well have sent off TWO of those birthday messages this morning and been DOUBLY embarrassed!!!!

The Traffic Guy...

So, we have this traffic guy on the radio, and I swear sometimes he is so hard to understand. (Not a good trait for a guy that does radio, one would think!) I often wonder to myself if he has a medical condition that affects his speech or if he has a substance abuse problem. The reason I think it may be the later is that sometimes it's worse than others. But, what do I know?

I think to myself (until now) that it's bad for me to even think these things. I mean, what if it IS a medical condition that affects his speech? But seriously, how DOES someone end up in a field like his with such a condition? Talk about overcoming all odds! Or perhaps he was IN the job first, and then something happened, but he was able to keep doing his job.

So, does anyone know what the deal is with our traffic guy? Am I an ass for wondering why he sounds like he's trying to hold half a glass of water in his mouth as he speaks?

If anyone knows why he talks like that, please let me know. I've been wondering for years now. Literally.
